Dumbarton Rock, King Artgal and the Vikings

1-DSC_0721After a year of stitching our panel for The Great Tapestry of Scotland it’s finally finished and is being stretched at the HUB before being framed and going on display.

It has been a real privilege to work on this project and I’d like to thank Ashley, Louise, Sarah and Trisha who worked with me on the panel. We had a good laugh at our fortnightly meetings and worked our fingers off stitching each time our panel came home with us. Now it is time for all the panels to be seen together in their full glory. The first exhibition will be at the Scottish Parliament before (hopefully) going on tour either as an entity or split into sections.

Stitchers are getting a sneak preview on the 2nd of September and the exhibition opens to the public the next day. If you’re in Edinburgh please do make some time to pop in and see it. As some of the stitchers will also be on hand to talk about the project and their panel it’ll be an amazing experience.

Here are some pictures of our panel before it has been stretched and framed (hence the look of lumps and bumps).  More photos can be found on my Flickr Page.
